New Paths to Achievement: Career & Personal Development program is designed to help Long Islanders succeed in addressing the most immediate needs related to career, education and personal goals. The experience they will gain under our program is crucial in helping them gain self-confidence and improve job search strategies while providing access to employment opportunities and receiving resources and information for themselves and their families. Participants will utilize personal development skills in order to become marketable for competitive employment and ultimately secure the job they need in order improve their economic situation. Our NPTA coordinator, will work directly with participants to enhance their knowledge about the current employment market, while co-currently teaching them new ways of approaching their job search.
Under the program, participants can be mentored individually or also attend a number of diverse group workshops both in person and web-based. Individuals can be referred through any Long Island Cares location and also through our partner agencies including, the Suffolk County Department of Labor, community libraries and local multi-service agencies all who allow us to develop programs specific to their own clients to provide the training, educational programs and referrals, and direct access to employers through job fairs.
Beyond the life lessons and skills learned at these workshops, one of the most valuable things gained from our New Paths program are the shared experiences that our participants come in with knowing they can develop a supportive network to help them succeed. They can move forward with personal and professional goals and concentrate on their strengths rather than their challenges. This gives New Paths to Achievement program participants a tremendous boost on the road to independence.
